* Chris Hartley scored 21 points, Thomas Hooton 19 and Harry Hayes 16 as Preston snapped a four-game losing streak with a 73-59 victory over visiting Tucker County.

The Knights (2-8) burst out to a 22-4 lead in the opening quarter and never looked back. David Gsell led Tucker with 18 points, and Adam Wilfong scored 13.

* Nick Hedges scored a career-high 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds and made three steals as visiting Morgantown High held off NCAC foe Elkins, 63-60.

After grabbing a 21-9 lead in the first quarter, MHS (6-1) allowed the Tigers to creep back into the contest. The Tigers outscored MHS, 38-26, in the second and third periods to knot the score at 47 heading into the final eight minutes.

"They did a phenomenal job shooting the ball," MHS coach Tom Yester said. "We played a pretty lousy third quarter. We were fortunate to win."

Justin Vidovich sparked MHS off the bench in the second half, scoring 11 of his 13 points.
