Mohigans pull away from B-U

Eight straight wins now for Morgantown

HIGHSCHOOLROUNDUP

The Dominion Post

TENNERTON -- Morgantown High's Tom Yester has been in the coaching business long enough to know it's never easy to win at Buckhannon-Upshur.

Yester's Mohigans did just that Tuesday, putting B-U away in the fourth quarter for a 66-50 North Central Athletic Conference victory.

MHS (9-2) has won eight straight games.

"To go up there and win and pull away at the end was good for us," said Yester, whose team has not lost since the first game of a holiday tournament, last month.

"It got down to a three-point game in second half. We did pretty well from that point on. We regained some composure, spread the floor out and made them work."

Seth Fogarty led the Mohigans with 18 points, converting 12 of 14 free throws. Kameron Law finished with four rebounds and six blocked shots to go along with 12 points. Tyler Benson scored 14.

Jeremy Davis led B-U with 17 point and Jim Egress added 14.

"We did well defending their 3-pointers, and that was key because they're pretty good from 3," Yester said. "Davis had only one 3-pointer."

MHS returns to action Thursday, hosting city rival UHS.

* HUNDRED -- Clay-Battelle clinched homecourt advantage in the sectional playoffs with a 71-58 Mason-Dixon Conference victory over Hundred.

Beau Wilson led the Cee-Bees (7-3, 5-1) with 19 points. Mike Simpson sank four 3-pointers and finished with 17 points. Dade Chisler added 13 for the Cee-Bees.

Hundred's Travis Neely poured in 29 points to lead all scorers.
