MOHIGAN JV HOLD OFF EAST
The MHS JV team ran its record to 2-0 with a 72-67 victory over a
pesky East Fairmont Bee basketball team at the MAC on Thursday evening.
With East leading 57-52, Coach Hoffman called a timeout. Calming
the team down he told them, "Lets slow down and execute. When you
get by your man, take the ball to the middle of the lane and read.
If someone is open give it to him and if you're open shoot it. On
defense we need to contain our man. Everyone needs to settle down
and get in the the right places on the floor."
From that point MHS went on a 13-0 run as Nick Dorinzi scored 13 unanswered
points. "We needed to get the ball down low," said Hoffman. "We had
the matchup advantage and once we got it to the post, Nick converted.
I think they got a little tired as we wore them out a little."
Dusty Kerns added 9 fourth quarter points, the only quarter he played
in. Dorinzi ended up with 19 points, and Andrew Dunn had 17 points.
The MHS Jayvees will be off until after the Christmas break.
