BUCKHANNON -- Chris Carey had team highs with 21 points and eight rebounds Wednesday, leading Morgantown High to a 72-54 NCAC boys' basketball victory, against Buckhannon-Upshur.

Ben Torsney contributed 13 points, Cameron Law seven rebounds and three assists, and Dusty Kerns three assists as the Mohigans boosted their overall record to 20-0.

MHS led, 22-15, after a quarter but pushed the lead to 39-24 by halftime on the Bucs' Senior Night. Any hopes B-U had of making it a game were thwarted by the Mohigans' 11-for-11 effort from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.

"We had a good lead at the half and pretty much sat on it," MHS coach Tom Yester said. "We shot our fouls well down the stretch. Chris Carey had an outstanding night."

Joey Baxa led the Bucs with 25 points.

* FAIRMONT -- University High led Fairmont Senior, 12-11, after the first quarter, but went cold in the second, fell behind, 29-18, by halftime and dropped a 57-49 decision. L.C. Jefferson led UHS with 18 points and Charles Cyphert added 16, but only three other Hawks managed to score. Dane Cimaglia led three Polar Bears in double-figure scoring with 12.

* Danny Webster tallied 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Justin Bolen (16) and Grant Neely (12) also reached double figures in scoring as Trinity handled Hundred, 72-53. The Warriors surged to a 24-10 lead after a quarter and the Hornets couldn't make a game of it after that. Corey Deakan scored 20 for Hundred.
