BROOKE -- The Brooke Bruins tried to rattle top-ranked Morgantown High with their pressure defense Friday, but the Mohigans would not be spooked.

MHS handled the pressure and pulled away from Brooke in the second quarter for a 77-54 nonconference victory.

"We did a pretty nice job of passing the ball against their press in the second half," MHS coach Tom Yester said. "We got 42 points in the second half."

Kameron Law led MHS (19-0) with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Carey scored 12 points and Marlan Robinson registered 10. Ben Torsney grabbed eight rebounds, Dustin Kerns doled out five assists and Drew Holt blocked three shots.

Jay Lyonett sank five 3-pointers and paced Brooke with 17 points. Ricky Sandreth scored 14.

* RACHEL -- A poor shooting performance cost University High's boys in their 70-47 loss to North Central Athletic Conference rival North Marion.

The Huskies played a zone for most of the evening, and UHS could not take advantage. "We couldn't throw it in the ocean," UHS coach Bruce Clinton said. "We had open looks and couldn't knock them down tonight."

North Marion dominated in the first and third periods, outscoring UHS, 40-18. Ricky Sell led North Marion with 16 points. Justin Jarman scored 15. Charles Cyphert paced UHS with 10 points.
