Spiker takes job at Cornell

The Dominion Post

Zach Spiker, the administrative assistant for the WVU men's basketball team the past two seasons, has accepted a job to be an assistant coach at Cornell University.

Spiker, 27, is the son of John Spiker, the school's coordinator of athletic medical services. Zach worked on his master's degree in sports management while working as the administrative assistant.

Spiker attended Ithaca College, also in New York, and majored in communications in 2000. He played two seasons of basketball at the school and was a student assistant during his senior year.

He moved on to Winthrop University, in South Carolina, as a graduate assistant and was part of a Big South Conference championship team that played in the NCAA Tournament.

Cornell was 11-16 last season and 6-8 in the Ivy League. Spiker will join Steve Donahue's staff this week.
