MOHIGANS AT BECKLEY, SATURDAY
Mohigan Journal: Dec. 8, 2004

The Mohigan JV and Varsity teams will travel to Beckley, Saturday to take on the defending state champions, in a scrimmage. Game time is 4:00. Beckley has been picked by many to repeat as state champions, but MHS has had the best record in the state over the last four combined years, and has been picked as a team to watch for the state championship. MHS returns starters Chris Carey and Dusty Kerns from last season’s 23-2 team. Slick shooting senior John Oliver and Marlan Robinson played extensively on last year’s team, as well. Andrew Dunn and Quinn Law will man the post for MHS and Nick Straface and John Hatfield will add scrappiness to the MHS defense. Jeff Lindsay and 2004 all-stater Migel Lockett will also be at Coach Yester’s disposal. Lockett moved to Morgantown over the summer and Jeff Lindsay led the MHS JV team to a 19-1 record, last season. Sharp shooting Emil Siriwardane rounds out the MHS hopefuls. Morgantown hopes to run and gun this year using its speed and defensive pressure to keep the tempo of the game at a fast pace. The MHS JV team has not been selected, yet.
