CAREY SIGNS WITH FAIRMONT STATE
Chris Carey made his decision final as he will join head coach Tim Murphy to help resurrect the Fairmont State basketball program, as he signed a letter of intent last week.
„I wanted to stay close home so my family and friends could come and watch me play,‰ said the Mohigan shooting guard. „Fairmont has a good tradition and I like how Coach Murphy is running the program.‰
Mike Carey, the WVU Womens&Mac226; Basketball coach knows a little about how division II basketball works as he coached against Coach Murphy when Mike coached at Salem. Chris took the advice of his Dad and made an early commitment.
„Chris had offers from several DII programs and visited several schools before making a decision,‰ said Coach Hoffman. „He did a good job making this decision, and it pleases me to have a player play at one the schools that I went to.‰
Carey returns to the Mohigan team for his senior season. He averaged 13 points, 6 rebounds 3 assists and 2.5 steals per game last year as he helped lead the Mohigans to a 23-2 record and a another state tournament appearance. MHS finished ranked number one at the end of the regular season and later were upset by Huntington in the quarterfinals.
Friday night the Varsity and JV will scrimmage George Washington at the MAC. Game time is 6:00 p.m. GW is expected to be one of the top teams in the state again this year.
„The Coaches Against Cancer‰ tournament dates have been changed. The first night of the tournament will be Dec. 27 and Dec. 28 will be the championship and consolation game night.
A reminder to all Mohigan basketball campers:
