GW, Mohigans Square Off

The Morgantown Boys basketball team hosted the George Washington Patriots in a scrimmage yesterday afternoon at the MAC and came away winning five of the six quarters. The final score was 94-74 in favor of MHS. Zach Cooke led the Mohigans with nineteen points. Anthony Schifano, Jay Fletcher each tallied seventeen points each and Craig Carey added fourteen points and eight assists and seven rebounds. Ben Hewitt was solid again scoring twelve points and eight rebounds. Jay Fletcher also had eight rebounds. Tyler Anderson had eight points and seven rebounds.

“George Washington played a lot of zone so it was good to go against what we will see a majority of the season,” said assistant Coach Jeff Hoffman. “Beckley was just the opposite, they played almost all man to man. GW switched defenses and came at us from different angles and we were confused some of the time, but we did get to play everyone enough minutes to get a true look at the areas we need to improve on.”

In the JV scrimmage, Ryan Parsons led the way with 10 points and seven rebounds, and Chase Wilson added eight points and seven rebounds. The JV’s won three of the four quarters.
