Sam Runner led the Mohigans with a game-high 28 points, while Taylor Price added 13. MHS outscored BU, 24-14, in the final quarter to put the game away.
MHS returns home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, to host Fairmont Senior on Senior Night.
MHS won the JV game, 76-29. Dean Marshall and Ben Blemings each had 16 points for MHS (17-1).

The Mohigans overcame a lackluster first half to put away Elkins, as Nathan Colombo scored 13 points and Taylor Price and Ryan Parsons each added 10. Sam Runner and Michael Keffer each had six rebounds and Sam Lusk had six assists.
“We made 12 turnovers in the first half and two in the second half, so that tells you something,” MHS coach Tom Yester said. “We turned it up a notch in the second half.”
Morgantown hosts North Marion at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Mohigans hand Polar Bears first loss 1/23/10

The Morgantown High boys’ basketball team earned its second victory in as many nights Saturday, winning at Fairmont Senior, 60-52.
The Mohigans (7-2) scored the game’s final eight points to hand the Polar Bears (8-1) their first loss.
“I was very pleased we got that spurt,” MHS coach Tom Yester said. “We had a very good week, beating East Fairmont, Fairmont Senior and Marion-Franklin [from Columbus, Ohio]. Hopefully, we’ve got it rolling now.”
Sam Runner led MHS, with 17 points, while Ryan Parsons added 10 points and nine rebounds. The Mohigans, who had 33 rebounds and just eight turnovers, trailed by one point heading into the fourth quarter before pulling out the back-andforth game.
MHS returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, hosting Buckhannon-Upshur.

4th-quarter rally defeats Martinsburg

Morgantown High stormed from nine points behind in the fourth quarter Saturday and beat defending state champion Martinsburg on the road, 50-40, in boys’ basketball.
Jordan Barnett tallied 18 points for MHS and went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line in the decisive quarter. Ryan Parsons, who scored 12 points, was 5-for-6 at the line in the fourth. As a team, the Mohigans sunk 13-of-15 for the quarter and 20-of-22 for the game.
An even bigger factor in the win was Taylor Price, who filled in for an ill Sam Runner and scored all 11 of his points in the second half.
“The impressive thing,” MHS coach Tom Yester said, “was, [the Bulldogs] led, 31-27, going into the fourth and they actually went out to a nine-point lead, and we hung around and we came back and did a very good job of getting the ball inside to Taylor Price.”
Evan Berryhill didn’t score, but Yester was “tickled with his defense.” Berryhill added three assists, Barnett had five steals, and Nathan Colombo and Parsons snared five rebounds each.
Martinsburg won the JV game, 59-46. Andy Maloney netted 12 points for MHS.

Jordan Barnett scored 17 points and Morgantown High held John Marshall 20 points below its season scoring average in a 64-41 boys’ basketball victory Thursday, at Glen Dale.
Sam Runner added 12 points and seven rebounds as the Mohigans won the battle on the boards. Nathan Colombo also had seven rebounds, Ryan Parson tossed in 11 points and Carlton Drake dished out five assists for MHS, which plays at Martinsburg on Saturday.
Jeremy Hays topped the Monarchs, with 17 points.
Nathan Adrian’s 22 points led the MHS JVs to a 72-30 win.
