PHS boys beat Mohigans PREP ROUNDUP
Knights use a balanced scoring attack

KINGWOOD — Cody Thompson and Shayne Murray scored 12 points apiece to propel the Preston High boys’ basketball team past Morgantown High, 56-48, on Monday night.
Colton Goff finished with 12 points and eight rebounds for PHS, while Bronson Contic and Clint Wagner added eight points and six assists each.
“We played a great defensive game, just super,” PHS coach Barry Sanders said. “We made some mistakes at the end and gave them the ball back, but we still did a good enough job defensively to win. [MHS’s Taylor] Price had a couple of nice slam dunks. We picked it up at the end and outscored them, 18-13, in the fourth quarter.”
Price led MHS (2-1) with 18 points. Nathan Adrian was the Mohigans’ only other double-figure scorer with 16 points.
The victory boosts Preston’s record to 5-0. The Knights return to action Wednesday against Martinsburg in a holiday tournament, at Martinsburg.

OAKLAND, Md. — Disney Sherise scored a game-high 20 points to lead Walkersville, Md., past Trinity Christian School in the Southern Garrett Snowflake Classic. Walkersville used its pressure defense to disrupt the Warriors after falling behind by five points in the opening quarter. “We didn’t handle their pressure well at all,” Trinity coach Cary Woods said. “If we handle the pressure even minimally, we win the game. We turned the ball over far too many times and it led to easy baskets for them.” Hayden Guiliani paced Trinity (3-2) with 16 points. Emily Myers scored 13 points and Tara Neely 10. TCS returns to tournament action at 5 p.m. today, against the loser of Monday’s late Southern Garrett-Oakdale, Md., game.
