Head Varsity Coach Tom Yester

Coach Tom Yester has 40 years coaching experience as he has become not only the veteran but the role model for all of the coaches in the state. His coaching style has changed with the times and now offers up one of the best systems in the state. He is considered by many as the best teacher of the game in the area and always prepares his teams for great late season finishes. He has had his team in the regional finals six of the last 8 years, winning it in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007. His career began at Rowlesburg High School, then he moved to University High where he served as head basketball coach for 9 seasons. Tom has been the coach of the Mohigans for over 25 years. He has taken twelve MHS teams to the state tournament (1986, 1987, 1990, 1993 and 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010). He has been selected as NCAC Coach of the Year many times. Tom's overall record is now being updated along with all MHS team records since the school was started.
A graduate of Terra Alta High School, Tom graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelors and masters degree. Tom retired from teaching in 2009 and substitutes on occasion.
