Mohigan Journal
By Johnny MoHigan

The Date: Tuesday, March 11

The Place: Wheeling Civic Center

The Opponent: Wheeling Park High School

The Purpose: Region I Championship

Four Mohigans scored in double-digits as they narrowly defeated
Wheeling Park for the Region I championship. Kameron Law, Seth Fogarty,
Tyler Benson, and Chad Murray combined for 58 of the Mohigans 66
points. Fogarty was easily the man of the hour with his 15 points and
at least a dozen rebounds. Murray came off the bench in the fourth
quarter to ignite the Mohigan offense, scoring 12 points.

[I need to mention that the Rowdie Society was on hand for this game
a surprisingly large crowd of MHS supporters turned out, and they were
easily able to out-yell the Wheeling Park fans! Thank you, Rowdie
Society I hope you can join us in Charleston!]

Morgantown got off to a slow start, and was unable to catch up with
Wheeling Park until the fourth quarter. After Law broke a 55-55 tie
with a 3-pointer, the Mohigans were able to stay 2 or 4 points ahead.
Benson had a long-range 3-pointer to put the Mohigans up 61-57. With
less than a minute left in the game and MHS up by just two, the Patriots
threatened to tie the game. Luckily for the Mohigans, Fogarty stole the
ball (and was nearly mugged by the Patriots), the ball went to Law, who
was fouled. Law then went 2-for-2 at the line, which seemed to take the
fire out of the Patriots. The Patriots then had another turnover and
missed a free throw, and the game was over.

Now it's off to Charleston, for the State AAA Championships. In the
quarter-final round, the Mohigans take on Beckley's Woodrow Wilson.
Hope to see a lot of you there!
