MOHIGAN JOURNAL, EXTRA by Coach Hoffman
FEEDER SUCCESS!
Coach Van Voorhis has his team playing well as they handled a good
University Freshman team by 10 points on Monday evening. It was great
to see John Oliver have a good night as he is one of the finest shooters
to come through our program in some time. He kind of reminds me of
Aaron Cage, who played for us on our last state tournament team in
2000. John has worked very hard at his game since last season, he
was not a starter at Suncrest. The Freshman team is working the ball
around nicely and many players are getting into the scoring column.
Speaking of Suncrest, the eighth grade Seal team has raced to an
8-1 record and South is 8-1, also. Suncrest has a loss to South and
South lost to Miller a team that Suncrest beat earlier in the year.
Both teams will have good records and hopefully continue to improve.
Coach Dalton has moved up to the eighth grade job at Suncrest because
Coach Bob Solly retired after many years of service. Coach Solly
has been a great help to our program over the years as he has sent
many well schooled players to our program. His hard work and commitment
over the years has been very evident in the success of the Morgantown
Boys Basketball program. Replacing Coach Dalton is Jonathon Solly,
son of Bob. Jonathon has a great team as the Suncrest 7th graders
are undefeated. They are playing a smooth brand of basketball, and
you can see Bob's hand in the teams success. South eighth grade is
off to a fast start as many expected. Tonight they play at Cheat
Middle. Coach Woods looks like he is going to have a great year with
this team. I watched them play Suncrest last week and their passing
is phenominal. There is definitely a lot of talent coming. It looks
like a bright future!
