MOHIGAN VARSITY BEATS #3 PRESTON

Revenge is a wonderful thing. This group of Mohigans was hurting after their 18 point loss to the Knights earlier this season, but now they feel better about themselves. Morgantown ranked #5, defeated Preston on Wednesday night by a score 61-50 in Kingwood. Sam Runner controlled the paint with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Jordan Barnett, Ryan Parsons and Taylor Price joined Sam in double figures. Nathan Colombo ended the evening with 9 points. MHS will now travel to Beckley tonight, to take on Logan at 9:00 pm. Listen to the game on wajr.com.

SOUTH 8TH GETTING IT TOGETHER, UPSETS CHEAT LAKE

ItÕs the first time these boys have ever beaten the Cheat Lake Boys, but they did it last night by a score of 37-33. Sam Heinzman recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jeff Leftridge added 11 points and Shaun Carden came up big with 6 points down the stretch. Now everyone has proof that hard work pay off.

Jeff Leftridge felt that making some shots this time was the difference. ÒThe last time we played, we couldnÕt make any shots,Ó said Leftridge. ÒBut this time we made a few shots and it opened up Sam and he went to work. That made it a lot easier for us and took some of their pressure defense away.Ó

Coach Hines was relieved after the showing his team had in the last game between the two teams. ÒThe first game we played them, we could do nothing right, but in this game we played much better.Ó Said Coach Hines. ÒShane Henderson played by far his best game of his career and Shaun made some big shots in the second half.Ó

Next week South will host both Suncrest and Westwood.

MOHIGAN JV WINS AGAIN, RECORD 11-1
