COMMUNITY STEPS UP

ÒThe support from the community has been tremendous,Ó said Coach Yester to his team on Monday evening at Practice. ÒThese people think you can do something special, so letÕs get to work,Ó he said at the beginning of practice. MHS has qualified for the state tournament, again and will play Capital on Thursday at 11:15 a.m.

Parker Hall, a local State Farm agent spoke to the boys about how proud the community is of them. ÒWe are very proud of you and will be behind you all the way,Ó said Hall. ÒWe think you are a special group and many of the young kids in the community really look up to you, so give it your all.Ó

The team will be provided with meals and motel rooms as they stay in Charleston, starting Wednesday evening, thanks in large part to donations from the community. ÒWithout their support, we would have to house our boys 4 to a room,Ó said MYBO Coach Jeff Hoffman. ÒThey are too big to be sharing beds and they would not get the proper amount of rest. They are going there to win, so we want every advantage we can give them. MYBO will give financial support by paying for several meals and a few rooms, so these guys are going to be treated like kings,Ó Hoffman added. Below is the schedule and you are encouraged to get your young Mohigans down to the games.

MOHIGAN VARSITY FUND DRIVE

The Morgantown Youth basketball Organization is conducting a fund drive to help with expenses for the Mohigan Varsity team in Charleston, next week. ÒThey will need approximately $4000 for food, gasoline and motel rooms,Ó said Coach Hoffman. ÒThe Secondary schools and Athletic department generally kick in about half of this, while private donations and parents pay the rest. If anyone wishes to donate, please call me as soon as possible. They could use your support,Ó added Hoffman. ÒBusinesses can use this as a tax write-off as well.Ó
