1ST EVER MYBO FALL
3 ON 3 SET FOR SUNDAY OCT. 18 The
Morgantown Youth Basketball Organization will host its first ever fall Middle
School, 3 on 3 shootout, at the MHS gym on Sunday evening. Teams have been
set and are listed below. ÒI believe that 3 on 3 is the true basketball,Ó
said Coach Hoffman. ÒYou have more space on offense and it puts a true
premium on not only being able to execute a screen and roll, but to defend in
space. The guys have been working real hard this fall and this will give us a
chance to see who has improved. I put the teams together, trying to make them
even, but also so different players will have to take on responsibility for
their team.Ó The winners will visit McDonalds in Sabraton after the tournament
and be treated by Coach Hoffman. Here are the teams (sorry about spelling) If
anyone has been left off, please come on Sunday evening and be placed on a
team. The tournament is free for all MYBO members. ÒOur goal is to offer kids
in our program a very intense yet relatively inexpensive way to prepare for
the season.Ó 1-

ELCHUCKS THEM FROM DEEP Little
Known, for now, TJ Elchuck hopes to play an important role on this yearÕs
Mohigan Varsity basketball team. He works every day to prepare for his chance
to help the Mohigans win. ÒTJ is one of our hardest workers,Ó said Coach
Hoffman. ÒHe has been one of the most consistent workers since September
began and it shows in his play. He was 22-42 from the floor in our tournament
in Columbus a few weeks ago and only a few of those were lay-ups. We won the
championship and TJ carried us during a critical two game stretch were he
scored 19 points and 10 points. He also had several assists and played the
best defense of his life,Ó added Hoffman. ÒI compare him to a bulldog, which
is known to never give up. He is working hard in the weight room and has
added significant weight and strength which will help the team this season.Ó Hopefully,
he and the Mohigans will not give up this year until they get a championship. |

HOPES TO PLAY A LOT THIS YEAR Photo
courtesy Dominion Post Former
Mohigan sharpshooter, Zach Cooke has embarked on a new career and he likes
where he is at. Zach a 2007-08 graduate of Morgantown High (shown above in
the UHS game during his senior season), is attending Stevenson University in
Owings Mills Maryland and will play the shooting guard spot for the Mustangs
this season. Stevenson plays in the Capital Athletic Conference and has an
enrollment of around 3000 students. Zach is
enjoying his experience out of state. ÒI like the coaches and am planning on
a chance to start,Ó said Cook in an interview earlier this week. ÒI have to keep
working hard and stay in the weight room.Ó Zach has gained about 20 pounds
since his high school days. ÒThe food is not that good though, so I have to
work hard to maintain.Ó Regardless,
Zach will be a success and Stevenson has a winner! |
