5 to join 2010 MHS sports hall

Five new members of the Morgantown High Athletic Hall of Fame will be enshrined Sept. 11:

William J. “Bill” Forrelli: 1950 graduate; four-sport athlete; all-Big Ten Conference and all-state in football, all-Big Ten in basketball; standout in the North-South football game; played defensive halfback two years at WVU.

Jules M. “Jay” Jacobs: 1956 graduate; all-time leading scorer in MHS basketball (1,268 points); all-Big Ten Conference and all-state; played for WVU; play-by-play analyst on the Mountaineer Sports Network for over 35 years.

Jack E. Forbes: 1958 graduate; played on first MHS golf team; has won West Virginia Amateur five times; considered a state and national leader in amateur golf circles.

William Bradley Haines: 1972 graduate; all-state, all-Big Ten Conference as a football receiver; first-team allstate and all-Big Ten as a pitcher.

Donna Sue DeWitt: 1978 graduate; first all-state girls’ basketball player at MHS; member of the 1978 team that won the state AAA title with a 23-1 record; played on the first MHS girls’ team to advance to the state tournament; all-Big Ten Conference.

The unveiling of the Hall of Fame Wall in the MHS cafeteria is set for 11 a.m. The football game against Fairmont Senior follows at noon. The inductees will be recognized at halftime. A dinner and plaque ceremony is set for 3 p.m., at the Waterfront Place Hotel.
